Oncolytic virotherapy is effective cancer treatment using special viruses, capable of
finding and destroying malignant tumour cells in the body. Rigvir is the first registered
and still the one and only genetically unmodified virus available worldwide for melanoma
treatment and metastasis prevention.
After being administered, the virus finds and infects malignant tumour cells in a process
called oncotropism. The virus replicates in the cells of a malignant tumour destroying them
in a process called oncolysis. Viruses not only destroy cancer cells but also activate the
body’s natural immune system, which also targets the malignant cells.

Rigvir can find and destroy circulating melanoma cells
The medical journal “Melanoma Research” published a study showing that melanoma patients who had received virotherapy treatment with Rigvir had a 4.39–6.57-fold lower mortality than those under observation. In this study, there was no untoward side effect or discontinuation of Rigvir treatment. In conclusion, Rigvir significantly prolongs survival in early-stage melanoma patients without any side effect.
